Finally, my favorite part of the RISE UP and Shine Your Light framework! Uncovering your God dream and planning your action steps so that you can begin doing “the thing” you were made to do and shine your beautiful light into the world.
Just as a quick recap, my RISE UP and Shine Your Light framework is what I created for my coaching clients who know deep down that there is more to life and really want to discover their purpose and figure out how to live life to the full. R is for remembering God’s faithfulness, I stands for Identify who God created you to be, then the S is Silencing the negativity, and the E is for Eliminating obstacles. These are all very important steps in the process of developing from feeling overwhelmed to overjoyed. There is nothing more exciting than figuring out who God created you to be and what He created you to do and then actually doing it! (I know this first-hand!)
Uncovering a God-dream isn’t hard for everyone, but it was for me. About 7 years ago now, I remember feeling so desperate for “more” out of life. Don’t get me wrong–I did have a wonderful life. I had “all the things.” I had a beautiful family, a mini-van, a house in the “right neighborhood,” a high-paying job, etc. By cultural standards, I should have been so happy and overjoyed with my abundance of blessings. From the outside, it would look like I had it made. I had worked really hard for these things and thought once I had it all, then I’d be happy. But something was missing. I felt it deep in my soul. I didn’t understand why, but deep down, I was not fulfilled.
Over the next few years, I would go on the most incredible journey of self-discovery. It took such a long time because I really had no idea what I was even doing or how to do it. I didn’t realize that what I was truly trying to discover was…my purpose–the thing God created me to do that would fulfill that deep void that I felt. What I didn’t realize then was that we ALL have a reason for being alive. God created each person on purpose for a purpose and it’s SO important to uncover what that is.
One of the reasons I named my LLC Counter Culture is because I want to coach in a way that is counter to what the world says. The world tells us that more money, more stuff, bigger everything, and more power are the things that satisfy us. But that is a straight up lie from satan himself. I learned it the hard way. There is seriously nothing more satisfying than doing what God created you to do – and even more satisfying is when other people see the value in what you offer and then you begin earning a living doing something that fulfills not only your own heart, but also the heart of God. This, my friends, is a counter cultural way to live! And I want this for all of us!
So, as part of my coaching program, once we spend time remembering God’s faithfulness and identifying who God says you are (your gifts, values, and personality), then work on getting your mind in the right place, then we do the work to uncover your dream. My goal is to help you sift through all the noise and focus so that it doesn’t take you years to figure it out. It’s already inside you! It just may be covered up by years of living out someone else’s dream for your life or living by our culture’s standards and ideas of what happiness looks like.If you’re anything like I was, then maybe you truly don’t even realize there is something in you that God is urging you to uncover.
You see–your purpose is not just for your own satisfaction or enjoyment. Your purpose is for the Kingdom of God. God creates each person with a unique gift, not for our own pleasure, but for a greater…you guessed it…purpose! Your purpose is just a small part of His much bigger purpose to lead all His people to Jesus and ultimately to heaven. But what we often forget is that each and every one of us is needed! There are people waiting on the other side of you fulfilling your purpose here on earth. People need you.
Just listen to how the Bible describes it in 1 Corinthians 12-27:
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
Wow, right? This is all of us. We’ve been given special gifting and purposes to be used FOR each other. We should not hold them just to ourselves. The body of Christ needs you and they need you to live out your purpose while you are here on earth so that they, too, can function in the way God designed.
So what is holding you back? Think about it…
If you are listening to this, then God wants you to know that you are no exception! It’s time to RISE UP and Shine Your Light! Let’s uncover that dream that God placed inside of you before you were even born. My purpose is to help you do this so that you can then go do the thing God created you to do. I can’t wait to work with you and help you not only uncover what yours is, but help you create your next steps and begin living in the abundant life that God is calling you into. It’s so worth it!!!!
